Beauty experts say that direct application of essential oil isn’t recommended, as it can irritate the skin, especially sensitive skin. Oils that blend well with carrot seed oil are bergamot, cedarwood, cinnamon, fennel, rosemary, geranium, lime, sweet orange and frankincense. Below is a list of different recipes, choose the one that suits your skin type and needs.
Carrot Seed Oil for Skin Lightening
Rich in antioxidants, argan oil can effectively reduce wrinkles. It’s exfoliating and moisturizing ability helps to obtain glowing skin. Topical application of lemon essential oil will help to improve your complexion. It also nourishes skin and makes it supple.
Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp. argan oil
- 7 drops of carrot seed oil
- 4 drops of lemon essential oil
- Dark (amber) glass bottle with a tight–fitting cap (preferably an eyedropper)
Directions
- Whisk all listed ingredients together in a clean bowl until combined well.
- Transfer oil blend to the glass (eyedropper) bottle.
- Wash your face as usual and gently pat dry using a clean washcloth or hand towel.
- Apply 2–3 drops of this oil blend regularly before going to bed.
- Rinse it off in the morning.
Carrot Seed and Almond Moisturizing Oil Blend
The vitamins A, B, and E contained in sweet almond oil can hydrate, rejuvenate and nourish your skin. Sweet almond oil, like jojoba oil, has a purging effect on skin un–clogging your blocked pores, as well as promoting collagen production. Sweet almond oil protects your skin from environmental free radicals, pollutants and harmful UV rays.
Ingredients
- 1 Tbsp. sweet almond oil
- 1 Tbsp. carrot seed oil
Directions
- Whisk both oils in a clean bowl until combined well.
- Wash your face and gently pat dry using a clean washcloth or hand towel.
- Now gently massage this oil blend over the face and around the neck.
- Leave it to dry for 15–20 minutes.
- Rinse it off thoroughly with warm (not hot) water.
Carrot Seed Oil Wrinkle Serum
In this recipe, you’ll need pomegranate seed and carrot seed oils. Pomegranate seed oil is renowned for its hydrating and soothing abilities. Antioxidant ability exhibited by this oil can effectively reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines on your face, as well as lightening dark spots (hyperpigmentation) caused by sun damage or hormones. - 200 ml pomegranate seed oil
- 200 ml carrot seed oil
- 10 ml vitamin E oil

Directions
- Add the carrot seed and pomegranate seed oils in equal quantities to a clean bowl.
- Add vitamin E oil to make it perfect for dry skin.
- Whisk oils together until combined well.

- Leave on for 20 minutes.

Cucumber, Beetroot and Carrot Oil Skin Toner
Cucumber is renowned for its refreshing water–rich content. It can effectively soothe and hydrate your skin. The healing ability of this common culinary ingredient can treat ailments like acne and eczema. The vitamins and minerals contained in beet juice help to improve your complexion and fade dark spots. Both internal consumption and topical application are beneficial for your skin.
Ingredients
- 1 cucumber, fresh, grated
- 1 beetroot, fresh, grated
- ½ Tbsp. carrot seed oil
Directions
- Strain grated cucumber and beetroot through a sieve to collect their juice in two clean bowls.
- Mix 4 Tbsp. each of juice from the cucumber, and juice from the beetroot into a third bowl.
- Add the carrot seed oil and whisk all the ingredients until combined well.
- Wash your face and gently pat dry using a clean washcloth or hand towel.
- Apply this mask evenly all over the face.
- Leave on to dry for 15–20 minutes.
- Rinse it off after 20 minutes with cold tap water.
Lemon and Carrot Seed Oil Exfoliator
Lemon is packed with skin lightening, cleansing and antibacterial properties. The vitamins and flavonoids contained in this wondrous ingredient can improve the elasticity of your skin. However, be aware that excessive use of lemon juice can make your skin sensitive.
Ingredients
- Juice of ½ a lemon (about 2 tsp.), fresh
- ½ tsp. carrot seed oil
- ½ tsp. brown sugar
- 3 drops of vitamin E oil (optional)
- 2 Tbsp. distilled (or filtered) water
Directions
- Place carrot seed oil in a clean bowl, whisk in a few drops of lemon juice.
- Add brown sugar and distilled water.
- Add vitamin E oil (if using) to this mixture.
- Whisk together all ingredients until combined well.
- Wash your face and gently pat dry using a clean washcloth or hand towel.
- Apply mixture over face and leave it to dry naturally.
- Once dry, rinse it off with warm (not hot) water.
Carrot Seed Oil for Acne
Jojoba oil is prominent for its ability to treat acne and control excess sebum (oil) production. It tricks your skin into producing less sebum, helping to prevent oily skin. Jojoba oil has antibacterial and anti–inflammatory properties help to treat chronic skin conditions like acne, eczema and psoriasis.

- 1 Tbsp. jojoba oil
- 1 Tbsp. carrot seed oil
Directions
- Whisk both oils thoroughly in a clean bowl until combined well.
- Wash your face and gently pat dry using a clean washcloth or hand towel.
- Apply this oil blend over face.
- Leave on for 20 minutes.

Carrot and Rosehip Seed Oil Face Serum
Rosehip seed oil is packed with vitamins A, C, D and E, gamma–linolenic and other fatty acids. Topical application of rosehip seed oil helps prevent wrinkles, and treats eczema, acne and other skin conditions.
Ingredients
- 1 Tbsp. rosehip seed oil
- ½ Tbsp. jojoba oil
- ½ Tbsp. pomegranate seed oil
- 10 drops vitamin E oil
- 10 drops lavender essential oil
- 3 drops helichrysum essential oil
- 2 drops carrot seed oil
- Dark (amber) glass bottle with a tight–fitting cap (preferably an eyedropper)
Directions
- Whisk all ingredients together in a clean bowl until combined well.
- Transfer oil blend to the glass (eyedropper) bottle.
- Wash your face and gently pat dry using a clean washcloth or hand towel.
- Apply over face and massage gently with fingertips in a circular motion.
- Rinse it off with cold tap water.
- Use this oil blend regularly before going to bed.
Tips on Using Carrot Seed Oil
- High concentration of any of the ingredients listed may irritate your skin. So, do a 24–hour skin patch test before applying it on the face.
- Moisturize your skin with rose water after any of these face treatments.
- Include a nutrient–dense food diet to make your skin healthy from the inside.
- Water–rich fruits and vegetables are good for your skin.
- Excess use of commercially manufactured skin care products isn’t good for your skin, especially those containing dyes, perfumes and petrochemicals (sulfates, parabens, phthalates, silicones, glycols, etc.).
- Do regular exercise, drink lots of water and avoid stress.
Precautions
Remember, carrot seed oil, carrot seed essential oil and carrot oil are distinctively different from one another, so pay special attention to which you’re actually purchasing. Carrot seed oil should always be from organic carrots (if available). Carrot seed oil can be used in essential oil diffusers and various aromatherapy practices.
It can also be applied topically directly on the skin to take advantage of its benefits. When applying carrot seed oil topically (on your skin), always perform a 24–hour skin patch test first using 1–2 drops, read how for further details. Store in tightly–sealed dark glass containers; in a cool, dark place away from light. Carrot seed oil can be found at most health food stores or online.
Many sources suggest using carrot seed oil in food recipes and ingesting it in a variety of ways. There has been no research conducted on the efficacy of ingesting this oil. In general, it is inadvisable to ingest any essential oils. If you do wish to utilize this product in this way, first consult with your primary care or naturopathic physician before ingesting it in any way.
Pregnant and nursing women should especially avoid ingesting it. If nursing or pregnant, consult your physician prior to using carrot seed oil. Do not use carrot seed oil on children. Some brands clearly labels their essential oils “KidSafe” on the bottle if it can be used on children ages 2–10. As with all carrier oil and essential oil products, be aware of the quality of what you purchase and always buy from reputable, well–sourced manufacturers.
Do not apply carrot seed oil directly to broken or damaged skin. Do not apply directly to open wounds. Never use carrot seed oil in eyes or in mucous membranes. If you experience an allergic reaction (externally or otherwise) after using carrot seed oil, discontinue use immediately and consult your physician. Carrot seed oil has no known medicinal interactions.
Always dilute carrot seed oil with a carrier oil due to its high concentration and high comedogenic rating. Common carrier oils you could use include babassu, argan, sunflower, sweet almond or hemp seed. Begin with a small percentage dilution ratio, and patch test on skin to see how your skin reacts, increasing the percentage dilution gradually until you see the desired results.
In general, essential oils should never be used by people who suffer from epilepsy, as they could be overstimulating to the central nervous system, possibly leading to seizures.
Carrot seed oil contains high amounts of furanocoumarins, which could potentially increase sun sensitivity (photosensitivity) in the skin. It could also potentially cause other symptoms of hypersensitivity, as well as contact dermatitis. Take care when exposing your skin to the sun in the first 48 hours after applying the oil, and be sure to wear proper sunscreen.
